Mousika Kazania 2026

“Mousika Kazania” is a newly established four-day music festival in Epirus, set to take place on October 29, 30, 31, and November 1 in Pogoni. Pogoni is a region of Epirus located north of Ioannina. It is a region deeply connected to music, from its historic polyphonic ensembles to the village festivals, gatherings in “kafenia” (small cafes), town squares, and village homes. Songs, nostalgic tunes, dances, and sharing define the region’s connection to so many melodies and stories.

In this lush, green landscape lie two beautiful villages: Kouklioi and Vrontismeni. Three of us, with roots in these villages, came together driven by a deep-seated need to create a musical community in our hometowns—a community that would serve as yet another clearing, promoting “togetherness” and connection through music and song.

Hoping that this idea of ours would become a reality, we decided to organize “Mousika Kazania” at the end of October, when Pogoni is buzzing to the rhythm of the cauldrons. Just as the stills bubble over the fire to distill tsipouro, we aim to create a musical effervescence through a variety of music workshops and events.

Because music, as well as tsipouro, needs its own fire. It takes time, patience, passion, and skilled hands to keep the rhythm of distillation. Over these four days, we aim to distill the knowledge, experience, and passion surrounding the musical traditions of our region and beyond, through seminars, workshops, discussions, and communal celebrations.
